Charlotte: Shining in the Darkness
Charlotte’s Real Estate Market Shines!
Today, Bloomberg reports that the S&P/Case-Shiller home-price index dropped 10.7 percent from January 2007. In 20 major US metropolitan markets, property values dropped overall. The drops were dramatic and many economists are predicting tough times ahead.
Yeah yeah, we have heard all of this time and time again! “The sky is falling, the sky is falling!” And yet again, Charlotte NC real estate remains one of the bright spots in the nation! This report went on to say (very briefly I might add) that Charlotte home prices defied the averages yet again! Read this excerpt:
All but one of the 20 cities in the index showed year-over- year declines in prices in January, led by drops of 19.3 percent in Las Vegas and Miami. Prices rose in Charlotte. (view report)
This is further proof that Real Estate is local. While other areas in the country that saw “crazy - stupid” property value increases are resetting themselves to reality, Charlotte’s real estate market, which has remained steady, is continuing to grow. Remember when your economic’s professor said “slow and steady wins the race”??? Well, here is your proof! Charlotte NC has the best real estate market in the Country! Those of us that live here already know this is the place to live. The rest of the nation is seeing this too! If you are thinking of moving, you should seriously consider moving and buying a home in Charlotte NC!

Is Interest Only Right For You?
Over the past few years, lenders have pushed their “interest only” mortgage loans. In many cases it was sold as a way to afford more home. But in all reality, is an interest only mortgage loan right for you?

Misleading and certainly NOT objective
Earlier I was snooping around CNN Money online to get info from Bernanke’s speech today about the Fed Reserve. While there I saw an ad from Bankrate.com, a well “respected” website that is supposed to be objective. For the fun of it, I clicked on the rate comparison for a 30 year loan (which advertised a SUPER LOW rate.) I was then prompted to provide more information about locality, loan amount and down payment. When all was said and done, that rate was nowhere to be found.. and at the bottom of the list of lenders and their “Todays’ Rates” list was this tag: Read the rest of this entry »
How to remove a bankruptcy from your credit report…
Special Contribution Article

I was given a bit of advice from a friend who had a bankruptcy removed from his credit report on his own without paying anyone a dime. The idea is very simple. He found out that after a certain number of years, the county moves it’s records from a paper file to microfiche. (In his case, it was 3 years.) He waited until 3 years had passed and then Read the rest of this entry »
"Piggybacking" crackdown…
Special Contribution Article
In anearlier blog about credit repair I had talked about a method of improving one’s credit score by “piggybacking” on someone else’s good credit. The theory is simple, and here’s one example: a student with virtually no credit wants to start building some. He gets mom or dad to add him as an “authorized user” on one of their credit cards. Technically he becomes able to use the account, but is not responsible for payment (they don’t even have to give him the card). But the years of good credit history from mom & dad instantly pop up on his credit report and jacks his score up. Then he can go out and start building credit MUCH easier than starting from scratch.
